Set up in 2007, the Mahausakande Kantha Samithiya is a holistic approach towards empowering women in a rural village. Part of the greater concept of
regenerating a rainforest begun in 2005, the success of the former has made way for the latter. With part financial assistance from HSBC, The Ellawala
Foundation Trust commenced training and guiding women to produce exquisite handmade coconut shell jewelry, which will be packaged and
marketed as an eco product locally and globally.
